The development of Advanced Listening Training was prompted and encouraged by feedback from our families who told us that their children needed further work to help them concentrate in school and otherwise perform more complex adult oriented tasks. As the result of this feedback we identified the need for a program that addressed the higher order processing disorders from a sensory integration and listening training point of view.

It came to our attention that a number of commercially available computer based software programs that targeted the underlying processing foundations of higher learning were getting good results to varying degrees. We attended courses and otherwise obtained training with, among others, Earobics (professional version), FastForWord, Interactive Metronome and Pro Think Motorvator. We began this process in 1998 and rented office space when it became available in our own building with the aim of eventually putting together a new program that was up to our standards.

In making this considerable research and development commitment of time and funds, we operated on the premise that our knowledge and background in the treatment of sensory integration and auditory processing disorders would help us to get the most out of these programs. Valerie Dejean autism expert
